Castlewellan

Castlewellan Forest Park is a beautiful and well known tourist centre in Co. Down. Owned by the Forest Service for Northern Ireland and covers 450 hectares of land lying to the north of the Mourne Mountains. The extensive area of woodland in this Forest Park is managed as a commercial forest and for recreation. Some of the Parkland trees are thought to have been planted between 1740 and 1760.

Working closely with The Northern Ireland Forest Service to deliver education programmes on the 450 hectare site, with Castlewellan Castle Christian Conference Centre for school and youth group residentials, the RSPB developing and delivering education programmes and LIFE for outdoor adventure activities, AYW have found a new home at the Park. We are excited to see how our work will develop here in the future.
