What is Eden?
Eden is the new name for all the environmental education work we do at AYW, be it biodiversity education, opportunities in the outdoors, or one of the many other projects that happen throughout the year with some of our alliance partners.
At the heart of all this is our strong belief that we are stewards of the world we inhabit. In order to do this, and encourage others to do this also, we have adopted the four key elements of the John Muir award scheme (with whom we work). Our programmes help people to discover, explore, conserve and share wild places.

Education
The phenomenally successful education programmes that we have been running at the Kilbroney Centre have meant that we at Alliance Youth Works have had to develop our programmes from the inital five to a range of ten. Incorporating elements of the revised curriculum for schools and mindful of the youthwork curriculum our programmes and projects are fun, interactive, and develop a host of skills in the children and young people we work with. The support that we have received from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency has meant the experiences we offer are even better. If you are looking to take your kids or young people on a fun and educational trip that they'll be talking about for years - then Eden is the only option.

Opportunities
Building on the success of the pilot health trust project at the Kilbroney centre, Eden has grown to incorporate 3 additional sites across Down and Armagh. In alliance with the Health and Social Care Trust, these projects are headed up by our Environmental Opportunities Worker, Robin, and are designed to help all participants develop socially, physically and gain an appreciation of the natural world around us. The activities range from physical activity through conservation projects, working in teams, to building nest boxes and seasonal cooking and gardening. There is a strong work ethic and ethos of looking after ourselves and the world around us.
