> Abseiling (all age)
What goes up must come down. Once you've climbed up you'll have to get down somehow. That usually involves a big long rope. Repel the rock face and land safely with your fellow campers, there to cheer you at the bottom.
> Archery (all age)
Green tights, a funny leather tunic and a feather in your cap are the required uniform for archery! Only Joking. But can you make the pointy thing stick in the big round colourful circle thing?
> Arts and Crafts (all age)
This year craft takes on a whole life of it's own. You'll still be able to make stuff to take home but you'll also have the opportunity to make something big to be used during one of the evening events.
> Beach (all age)
Sun, Sea, Sand and Slimy stuff, Sand castle competitions, Big games - how much fun can you pack into one session. Don't forget your sun cream.
> Big Bash and Carnival (Traditional)
This is your opportunity to shine. Are you a singer, dancer, actor, painter, do you play an instrument? Big Bash is our talent show where all the cabins take part. Come prepared with ideas.
Carnival is a street party that takes place between the boys and the girls building after big bash before a very late night campfire.
> Bouldering (all age)
One of the most popular activities each year, Bouldering is back again. Bouldering is clambering up a river and sliding down the natural water slides made by it. Awesome fun.
> Cabin Time (Traditional)
This is the part of the day just before bed when your cabin spends some time with your counsellors talking over the day. It's a really cool part of the day when you can talk about all the stuff you've done and experienced and even talk through any problems you may have had.
> Camp Chills (Traditional)
There is so much going on at Camp and it really doesn't stop, so for a couple of nights camp slows down and breathes. One night the whole camp is onsite but on the second camp chills night some campers will be away on expeditions.
> Camp Media (all age)
So where did Camp Radio go?! No where, technically. But now instead of just radio each morning at breakfast, we'll be going live on this very website with the news from Camp every day. So, your parents, friends, wee sister, Camp Alumni and past campers can see just what they're missing!
> Campfire (Traditional)
There is only one Campfire each day. It marks the end of the daytime activities and the countdown towards bed. It's fun and is one of the few times when the whole Camp is together.
> Climbing Expedition (aged 16 only)
Imagine walking through the Trassey Valley and up into the mountains where you will be climbing some of the more awkward and challenging faces and scrambling over the rougher terrain. The trip is even more exciting because that night you'll cook supper and sleep on the side of a mountain to wake looking over the majestic Mournes. Not for the faint hearted - but a real challenge - go on - you can do it!
> Canoeing (all age)
A Canoe is a big open boat for a couple of people, unlike a Kayak which is lower to the water and has a cockpit for one person to sit in. Gently paddling on the calm water of Castlewellan. Sounds delightful. Probably not going to be that gentle though. It will be lots of fun and very wet.
> Canyoning (all age)
This activity mixes bouldering and climbing. You'll have the opportunity to work your way up river on the big boulders, having fun in the big pools and tiny runs along the way - when the going gets tough and there are few foot holds or boulders you'll be climbing the walls of the gorge.
> Coasteering (all age)
Go exploring the coast around Newcastle scrambling over the rocks, in and out of the caves, into the big plunge pools. Wild, wet and cold - can't beat it.
> Cookery (all age)
How are you with cooking al fresco - cooking outside that is? Tim is back and making food for the BBQ. The menu looks fabulous, I drool at the very suggestion. Come along and try out new recipes for cooking outdoors.
> Dance (all age)
New last year and very popular for guys and girls, come and work out new routines and take part in the class with our dance tutors. Great craic, and very energetic.
> Kayaking (all age)
Sometimes people say Canoeing when actually they mean Kayaking. A fast, fun single-seater boat with a double blade paddle. Wild and wet.
> Lodge Cabin Council (Traditional)
One of the main reasons why Camp Alliance is so good is because we listen very carefully to what you say. At Lodge Cabin Council you have the opportunity to tell us what you thought about Camp, then we go back and start to prepare Camp for the following year!
> Mountain Biking (all age)
Probably the fastest activity we've had at camp! Bikes, mountains, tracks, rocks! Prepare to fall, prepare to be sore for days! But what a thrill? Bikes and safety equipment all provided.
> Pioneer (all age)
Uncle Ray and Uncle John beckon this year again. Our Environmental programmes at the Kilbroney Centre are a huge success - now you get the chance to discover, explore and conserve the Kilbroney site and all the wildlife it supports - loads more packed into the programme this year.
> Rock and Water (aged 14+)
Must sign up for all three sessions
This combination allows participants to develop their skills in
Bouldering,
Coasteering, and
Canyoning beyond the normal sessions.
> Rock Climbing (all age)
Climbing at the quarry has been happening at Camp Alliance since year 1. It is always really popular and is back on the programme. It's an opportunity to test how good you are with heights.
> Sport
New this year we're giving you the opportunity to get physical with a session of sports - come prepared to play... whatever. It's not an excuse to play football - in fact that's the last on our list. It's an opportunity to build up physical well being, coordination and skills in a variety of sports.
> Tyroleans (all age)
Cross the gorge suspended beneath a rope. Hair raising, not for the faint hearted - adrenaline junkies sign-up for this one.
